Sundays provides air-dried dog food that is ideal for pups who like dry food and pet owners who don’t want the hassle of fresh or raw food. Sundays offers three different recipes: beef, chicken and turkey. Their vet-formulated recipes have a high meat content and jerky-like texture, which appealed to Skye. I like to use it as a topper these days, although I previously fed it as their main meal between 2023 and 2024.
How Sundays compares to UnKibble
Sundays has more of a treat-like texture compared to UnKibble, which is more like traditional pet food morsels. They both offer three recipes, but UnKibble has one fish flavor. My dogs preferred Sundays’ beef, chicken and turkey over UnKibble’s cod and salmon recipes. UnKibble provided a custom scooper for Copper and Skye individually, something Sundays doesn’t do. There’s a noticeable price difference. UnKibble costs $164.40 a month ($140 in 2023), Sundays charged me $221 ($139 in 2023).

Copper and Skye consistently eat their beef and chicken recipes, which have been formulated by a vet and PhD animal nutritionist. I’ve included this as my freeze-dried pick because my Klee Kai show lots of mealtime excitement when it’s in their bowl.

Pet parents will need to prepare their dog’s portion by adding warm water to the dehydrated food and waiting three minutes for it to rehydrate. I liked getting the benefits of fresh without needing fridge or freezer space.

UnKibble doesn’t require any work from the point of view of the pet owners. It’s really as simple as scoop and serve. Dog owners need to take a few extra steps to prepare The Honest Kitchen. However, The Honest Kitchen is easier to store because the food is dehydrated and takes up less space in the cupboard. I was surprised to see my Klee Kai tuck into their dehydrated food with such enthusiasm. They’ve got four more recipes than UnKibble.

The Farmer’s Dog offers fresh dog food for pet owners who are ready to give their pet food format a try. It’s the best value of all the fresh dog food companies I’ve reviewed. They’ve got four recipes (grain and grain-free), individually labeled Copper and Skye’s pouches, attach a pre-portioned daily guide, and my Klee Kai happily ate it. If you’ve got a fussy eater, we had pretty good success with Skye on The Farmer’s Dog. They prefer it to Ollie and Nom Nom (other fresh brands).

The Farmer’s Dog differs from UnKibble because their food is fresh instead of dry. The Farmer’s Dog has one more recipe on offer than UnKibble, with extra variety potentially appealing to picky eaters. You do need freezer space, you’re required to keep a pouch or two thawed, and you’ll have to store leftovers in the fridge. UnKibble is shelf stable and can be kept in the cupboard. The Farmer’s Dog charged me $251 a month for their fresh food, which is $87 more than UnKibble.

They’ve got five recipes and use peel-back pouches, and I split a meal packet between Copper and Skye every mealtime. We’ve had two years of continued success.

We Feed Raw has five different proteins on offer, which is notably more than UnKibble. There’s no doubt that We Feed Raw is more hassle than UnKibble because you’ll need freezer space and stay on top of keeping some pouches thawed. I do like that you can add toppers and supplements to frozen raw more easily than dry food. I pay $280 a month for frozen raw, which is substantially more than my UnKibble cost.

The Pets Table provides air-dried and fresh recipes that you can easily combine as part of the same subscription plan. I reached out to Spot & Tango to see if it’s possible to combine their fresh meals with UnKibble. They confirmed that it is but you have to work with customer service. Copper and Skye liked the air-dried food from The Pets Table. However, UnKibble is more convenient with their custom scooper.

While I’ve shared some great alternatives if you’re ready to move away from UnKibble, I do believe there are some reasons to stick with their dry food.
UnKibble does some things differently compared to other pet food companies, namely the custom scooper which I’ve not experienced anywhere else.
By the way, Copper and Skye got their own scooper based on my answers in their signup questionnaire: Skye’s was bigger than Copper’s because he needs to lose weight.
They’re still unbeaten on price. UnKibble costs $164.40 a month for Copper and Skye, which is only a $24.40 increase from when I reviewed their food back in 2023.
I appreciate their transparent labeling which makes it easy to see exactly what’s gone into your dog’s recipes: I could easily recognize the ingredients.
