I tested Sundays For Dogs and Tally’s Ranch on my Alaskan Klee Kai to see which my picky eater preferred. In this comparison review, we look at ingredients, price, convenience, my fussy dog’s verdict, and which I’d recommend to other dog owners.
Sundays Vs Tally's Ranch Quick Verdict |
I tested Sundays For Dogs and Tally's Ranch on my Klee Kai dogs, and while it was a close call, my fussy dog preferred Sundays. The big difference between these two brands is the preparation method. Sundays air-dry their recipes, and Tally's Ranch uses a freeze-drying method. My dogs preferred the texture of Sundays, and I found it especially convenient to use as a complete meal, topper, training treat, or snack on walks. Neither Sundays nor Tally's Ranch offers a custom scooper, but they both provide personalized meal plans. There wasn't a big difference in price: Sundays charged me $218 a month, Tally's Ranch cost $219 a month. Overall verdict I'd recommend Sundays purely because my fussy dog consistently ate it over 18 months.

There’s so much choice if you’re ready to ditch traditional pet food in favor of a dog food subscription company, but it can also be overwhelming due to the wide range of options. Sundays and Tally’s Ranch provide pet owners with a convenient option that doesn’t require fridge or freezer space.
Sundays have an air-dried range that we found perfect for a picky eater like Skye, thanks to its high meat content and treat-like texture. While their prices have risen, Sundays remains good value if you’re looking for a personalized meal plan.
Tally’s Ranch is much newer to the market, with a freeze-dried range. They provide some of the benefits of raw food with the convenience of dry food. So if you’ve been considering raw food, Tally’s Ranch is a good entrance point.

Sundays For Dogs vs Tally’s Ranch: Our Verdict

Let’s get right down to business. Who do we recommend? We like Tally’s Ranch, but Sundays would be our recommendation based on our experience.
Tally’s Ranch appealed to me because they offer freeze-dried raw, and my dogs love raw dog food, so I was intrigued to see how they’d find freeze-dried.
They only have two recipes: beef and chicken. Sundays do offer turkey alongside beef and chicken. So they’ve got ever-so-slightly more variety.
While Skye and Copper enjoyed Tally’s Ranch, I’ve recommended Sundays because of our consistently good experience with their air-dried food.

My Klee Kai dogs always finished the beef and chicken recipes on Sundays, proving a hit with my mini huskies for the best part of two years.
While both brands offer customized meals, neither provides a custom scooper like UnKibble. That’s one area I’d love to see both brands improve on.
How does Tally's Ranch compare to UnKibble?
Find out in this article.
We use Sundays as a table topper on their We Feed Raw meals, and we like to break the jerky-like Sundays food in half and use it for walks, training treats and scent games.

It was difficult to put Tally’s Ranch to the same use purely because of the texture. That said, we could use it as a topper and for scent work, but it just can’t be broken in two.
Sundays is marginally cheaper than Tally’s Ranch, but the difference is small. Sundays cost me $218 a month, which is $ 1 more than Tally’s Ranch.
I have noticed a steady increase in my Sunday subscription cost since first ordering their food in 2023. It’s gone from $140 to $184 to $218.
Who Is Sundays?

Sundays For Dogs is one of the most popular dry food brands in the USA, thanks to its air-dried recipes, convenient food and competitive pricing.
They use human-grade ingredients, such as USDA meat, vegetables, minerals and vitamins, in recipes customized to meet your pup’s needs. I appreciated that I could recognize all the ingredients in their recipes.
Sundays offer three recipes: chicken, beef and turkey. Copper and Skye liked beef and chicken but weren’t big fans of the turkey recipe.

I’d like to see more variety, especially since their range hasn’t changed since I first reviewed their air-dried food back in 2023. Some of their competitors, such as Maev, have added new proteins.
While Sundays do get pet owners to fill out a sign-up questionnaire, it’s unclear how much customization is involved. You don’t get a custom scooper.
This is a feature I’d like to see Sundays (and Tally’s Ranch) include in the future to remove the hassle of using kitchen utensils to measure out portions.
Having said that, I like the convenience of Sundays because they serve a dual function: mealtime food and training treats. I often grab a handful for our daily walk. We also use it as a topper.

Sundays remains a good value option if you’re looking to feed balanced and complete meals without breaking the bank. I paid $218 for a month’s supply.
I will point out that Sundays originally cost me $138 back in 2023. So that’s an increase of $80 over three years.
Overall, I still recommend Sundays because their air-dried food satisfied Skye for over 18 months. She consistently ate it, so I know they’re a good option for fussy dogs.
| Sundays Pros | Sundays Cons |
|---|---|
| High meat content | Only 3 recipes |
| My dogs loved it | Costs more than kibble |
| No nasties | No scooper |
| Cheaper than fresh | Price increase |
