We Feed Raw Vs Darwin’s Natural Pet Products: What’s The Difference?

Last Updated on April 28, 2025 by Kieran Beckles

Are you ready to make the switch to a raw dog food company, but you can’t decide between We Feed Raw and Darwin’s Pet Food?

We decided to introduce raw dog food to Copper and Skye’s diet after my Alaskan Klee Kai dogs showed some fussiness with fresh dog food following our return to California two years ago.

While I had heard of Darwin’s Pet Food because the raw dog food brand has been around for quite some time, we hadn’t come across We Feed Raw when we lived in the United States previously.

In this article, I will compare We Feed Raw and Darwin’s Pet Food, providing my verdict and insights into these two raw dog food companies.

We’ll get right to the point. Who do we recommend to our readers who are undecided between these two raw dog food brands? Our pick is We Feed Raw.

We’ve ordered and tested raw dog food from both of these companies on Copper and Skye, but We Feed Raw was the clear winner.

My wife and I have never seen Skye show so much mealtime excitement following the introduction of We Feed Raw to her diet.

Skye and Copper stalk me to the fridge at mealtime, wagging their tails and doing spins before wolfing down their We Feed Raw meals.

I highlight this behavior because it’s so uncharacteristic of Skye, who would usually let Copper eat first and sometimes even let him eat her food.

From a dog owner’s perspective, I liked that We Feed Raw’s meals come in meal pouches that I can halve daily to make portion control easy.

They’ve also got a great range of six recipes, which allowed me to vary Copper and Skye’s meals. This was handy to provide my Klee Kai with variety.

We Feed Raw launched their freeze-dried raw range in 2025 to cater to pet owners who don’t want the hassle of storing and handling raw food.

Darwin’s Pet Food arrived in much bigger meal pouches, so I had to leave half-opened packets of raw food in the fridge. They didn’t provide a container, either.

We Feed Raw is the clear winner from my perspective based on Skye and Copper’s reaction and my experience as a pet owner availing of their subscription.

Who Are We Feed Raw?

We Feed Raw is a raw dog food company that believes in the merits of a biologically appropriate raw food diet for dogs.

They use locally sourced and ethically sourced ingredients (grass-fed and/or free-range) in all their recipes, which made me feel good knowing Copper and Skye were eating quality food.

We Feed Raw stood out compared to other raw dog food companies thanks to their pre-portioned packaging. Copper and Skye required 6 oz a day, based on the results of the sign-up questionnaire on the brand’s website.

Seeing as We Feed Raw stored their meals in 6oz packages, it made it easy to feed Copper and Skye because I could split one meal at each mealtime for my Klee Kai dogs. This was super convenient and created less mess.

As I mentioned above, We Feed Raw offers six different recipes: beef, chicken, lamb, venison, duck and turkey. As a pet owner with a fussy eater, I appreciated having such a variety to choose from.

As I mentioned above, We Feed Raw offers two freeze-dried raw recipes to accommodate pet owners who may prefer the convenience of dry food over raw food but still want to enjoy the benefits of their formulations.

I will say that We Feed Raw is expensive. We had to pay $160 for our initial trial box with the brand before the price crept up to over $250 once we signed up permanently.

Who Are Darwin’s Natural Pet Products?

Just like We Feed Raw, Darwin’s Pet Food offers the opportunity to introduce a raw-fed diet to your dog.

They have more experience than We Feed Raw, in the sense that Darwin’s Pet Food was founded in 2004 and has been feeding dogs for over 20 years.

Darwin’s Pet Food offers the opportunity to create a custom meal plan, similar to We Feed Raw, so you’ll need to fill out their sign-up questionnaire.

Unfortunately, Darwin’s didn’t offer the opportunity to select Klee Kai as a breed, so I had to choose “mixed breed”. I found their questionnaire and website to be a bit jittery.

However, they don’t store their raw food in portioned meal pouches like their competitor, which means more faff at mealtime and having to find containers for half-opened packets.

When I completed my subscription, I was quoted $181 to feed their raw food to Copper and Skye. That is slightly cheaper than We Feed Raw.

However, my Klee Kai much preferred We Feed Raw, so I was willing to pay a little extra each month to see Skye consistently finish her meals.

You have plenty of options when it comes to buying Darwin’s. You can purchase from their website, Amazon or at your local pet store.

Wrapping Up

We’ve come to the end of our We Feed Raw vs Darwin’s Pet Food comparison article.

My absolute recommendation would be We Feed Raw based on the success we’ve had feeding their food to Copper and Skye. It’s been life-changing.

If you have a picky eater like me, I don’t think you’ll go wrong by giving We Feed Raw a try. We’ve recommended it to other Klee Kai owners, and their dogs have become just as obsessed with it.
