How much is We Feed Raw, and is it worth the investment if you’ve got a picky eater? It’s more expensive than kibble, but it’s saved me so much money on vet bills because my picky eater loves it.

It can be daunting to commit to a subscription service with a raw dog food company, as raw diets have a reputation for being expensive.

We discovered We Feed Raw 18 months ago by chance when researching another raw dog food brand, and we decided to get their raw meals for our Alaskan Klee Kai.

Copper and Skye don’t usually show much interest in raw food, but I was staggered by just how much Skye loved We Food Raw dog food.

While it’s expensive, we’ve saved a lot of money in vet bills, and we managed to escape the cycle of Skye trying new food, refusing it after a few weeks, and ending up at the vet.

Is We Feed Raw Worth The Cost?

I’ve always been hesitant about feeding raw dog food because I was concerned it would be a big faff to handle once defrosted.

We discovered a raw dog food brand in the USA that appeared more convenient, and while my Alaskan Klee Kai enjoyed their meals initially, they started to pick out the fruit and vegetables after a few weeks. I was almost going to give up on raw food before I came across We Feed Raw.

We decided to give it a go and we haven’t looked back in the past 18 months because their food has completely transformed my picky Alaskan Klee Kai dog, Skye.

She’s been consistently eating We Feed Raw, and we’ve seen so many benefits that we can comfortably say their frozen raw food is absolutely worth the monthly cost.

Before We Feed Raw, we were stuck in a cycle. We’d introduce a new food, Skye would eat it for a couple of months, before she’d eventually refuse it. We’d take her to the vet, get some with anti-nausea meds, and be told to cook chicken and rice.

We’ve saved so much money in vet bills (and emergency vet bills) that it’s worth the investment. Our plan may be priced at $280 per month, but we don’t have to pay $200+ per vet visit.

Skye has shown continued appetite, better digestion and more energy. Our Alaskan Klee Kai dogs have healthier coats, less tear stains, firmer stools and regular bowel movement. This has continued every month since we made the switch.

I believe We Feed Raw is competitively priced when you consider they provide a human-grade, balanced diet comprised of quality meat. Their recipes have been formulated by a PhD animal nutritionist. There’s a level of expertise there.

We’ve also recommended their raw food to other Alaskan Klee Kai owners with picky dogs, and they’ve experienced similar success.

If you’re worried about the price, you could always go for freeze-dried, which works out significantly cheaper. In my case, it was nearly $80 cheaper per month.

Why is We Feed Raw so expensive?

I’ve got two Alaskan Klee Kai dogs, and my cost is either $280 for frozen raw or $202.50 for freeze-dried raw. It’s a premium subscription service.

I understand why many dog owners will balk at these prices, especially if you’ve got multiple dogs that are larger breeds than my Klee Kai dogs.

I like that We Feed Raw stores my Klee Kai’s food in meal pouches, especially because mealtime at my house is as simple as dividing a pouch between my dogs.

These peel-back pouches cost more than larger packaging, such as Viva Raw, which stores its meals in bigger pouches, so I assume that less packaging costs.

I do appreciate that they use compostable packaging, so the environmental impact is lower than that of other brands. I can recycle the box and the insulation.
