Sundays For Dogs Vs Badlands Ranch What's The Difference

Last Updated on January 20, 2026 by Kieran Beckles

Are you ready to switch to air-dried dog food, but you can’t decide between Sundays For Dogs and Badlands Ranch?

I’ve been feeding air-dried dog food to my Alaskan Klee Kai Copper and Skye, ditching store-bought kibble in favor of a complete and balanced diet for my mini huskies.

There’s no shortage of potential air-dried dog food to try alongside other healthy pet food formats, such as fresh dog food meals, freeze-dried dog food, and raw dog food.

Quick verdict

Sundays For Dogs

Overall, Sundays is my top pick for air-dried dog food if you want the nutrition of fresh food without the mess of a fridge. It’s vet-formulated, customized to your dog’s needs, and one of the easiest ways I’ve found to feed a high-quality diet.

Trying to figure out the best option for my Klee Kai was overwhelming, and I’ve reviewed over 30 different dog food brands to find the best food for my dogs.

We initially tested Sundays and Badlands Ranch in 2023, but we’ve placed subsequent orders in the past three years as these brands have improved and expanded.

In fact, we’re currently feeding one of these brands based on our success with their air-dried dog food. Copper and Skye continue to love Sundays For Dogs.

Sundays For Dogs Vs Badlands Ranch: Our Verdict

Sundays For Dogs Vs Badlands Ranch Our Verdict

Sundays would be my pick based on the overall value provided by their dog food subscription service and my Klee Kai’s reaction to their food.

Sundays provided me with a custom meal plan for Copper and Skye tailored to their specific needs: Copper needs to lose weight, and Skye needs to maintain weight.

I believe Sundays offers better value: I paid $184.40 a month for Copper and Skye’s food, but Badlands Ranch cost $28.7.55 a month. That’s a monthly saving of $103.15.

I felt like Sundays provided a more complete service, given the packaging and level of detail in the information provided in my first delivery. My dogs received a custom meal plan.

In terms of Copper and Skye’s verdict, it was close. They really enjoyed both Sundays and Badlands Ranch. I didn’t notice much difference in mealtime excitement.

Having said that, I felt Sundays’ beef recipe did appear to be their overall favorite. My Klee Kai dogs were quicker to gobble down their Sundays’ dog food.

So, based on price, customization, and mealtime excitement, my pick would be Sundays.

How We Tested These Dog Foods

It was easier to get started with Sundays than with Badlands Ranch because of the website layout and sign-up process.

I completed Sundays questionnaire before receiving my custom meal plan and subscription price.

However, I had to figure out how many Badlands Ranch I required by consulting the feeding guidelines and doing some maths to order sufficient bags.

Sundays offer a more seamless customer experience when purchasing from their website.

We fed Copper and Skye their Sundays and Badlands Ranch food over the course of a month to properly test these brands.

Neither Sundays nor Badlands Ranch provided a custom scooper, so I had to use a kitchen utensil to get their portions right.

There was little difference in the taste test.

My Alaskan Klee Kai dogs enjoyed both air-dried brands. I believe the treat-like texture and high meat content played a big part.

We’ve continued to feed Sundays since our first review of their pet food in 2023.

While we didn’t ultimately stick with Badlands Ranch, we have placed subsequent orders to keep this review up to date.

Badlands Ranch have also added freeze-dried nuggets to their recipe range.

Sundays For Dogs uses an air-drying process to gently dry their human-grade dog food, preserving nutritional integrity and locking in flavor.

Created by vets, it’s no surprise that Sundays For Dogs only uses natural ingredients in its recipes. You won’t find any additives or preservatives in their dehydrated dog food.

Sundays tailors your dog’s meals based on the details you provide in their sign-up questionnaire. I shared details about Copper and Skye, including their ages, breeds, activity levels, diets, and any health issues.

Sundays offers beef, chicken and turkey recipes, which is a good selection for dog owners with fussy eaters like my Alaskan Klee Kai dogs.

I was worried they wouldn’t enjoy an air-dried dog food diet, since they’ve shown muted interest in traditional kibble. But I decided to give Sundays a try.

Copper and Skye loved their air-dried dog food meals (much to my surprise), and we’ve continued to feed Sundays to my Klee Kai dogs since 2023.

Sundays’ air-dried food has a treat-like texture and 90% meat content, which I think helped to convince my picky eater, Skye, to try it initially.

Copper and Skye preferred the beef and chicken recipes, but the turkey recipe wasn’t as popular with my Klee Kai. So, if you’re ready to sign up, maybe start with beef or chicken!

Badlands Ranch

Badlands Ranch (Photo: lifewithkleekai)

Badlands Ranch offers Superfood Complete recipes to challenge the likes of Sunday and other dog food brands. It’s the creation of actress Katherine Heigl.

Badlands Ranch initially offered air-dried dog food when they launched before adding Superfood Nuggets to its range in 2025.

Unlike traditional cooking methods for dry dog food, such as kibble, Badlands Ranch dog food isn’t cooked at harsh, high temperatures.

As you’d expect from a dog food brand with a range called Superfood Complete, Badlands Ranch has created its recipes using premium, nutritious meat and healthy fruit and vegetables. You won’t find any meat meal, byproducts, or preservatives in their air-dried food.

Badlands Ranch doesn’t require pet parents to fill out a sign-up questionnaire, so dog owners should carefully follow the air-dried dog food brand’s feeding guidelines.

I was pretty confident that Copper and Skye would enjoy Badlands Ranch, considering its treat-like texture is similar to Sundays For Dogs, just a bit chunkier.

Copper and Skye were happy to eat Badlands Ranch dog food without any hesitation. My fussy eaters particularly enjoyed the beef recipe.

I did find that the Badlands Ranch dog food bags arrived squished. It may be a small detail, but the bag didn’t hold its shape, so I had to lay it flat in the cupboard.

As of 2026, my Badlands Ranch price increased to $287.55. This is expensive when you consider Sundays cost $184.40. I’d expect to pay that much for fresh or raw dog food.

Pros

Cons

  • Human grade

  • Superfoods

  • 87% meat content

  • Treat-like texture

  • Expensive

  • Small bag

  • Limited customization

Common Concerns & Counterpoints

Sundays vs Badlands Ranch

When addressing concerns about Sundays and Badlands Ranch you’ll have to consider price.

I’ve got two Alaskan Klee Kai dogs who weight around 15lbs each. I’ve reviewed over 30 dog food brands since starting Life With Klee Kai, and I’m accustomed to subscription prices.

However, it can get expensive if you’ve got a medium, large, or extra-large dog breed. Or, pet owners with multiple dogs might find the pricing an issue.

This is a particular issue with Badlands Ranch. I paid $287.55, which is a lot for air-dried food, considering I’ve got relatively small dogs.

It’s a small point, but I did find that the Badlands Ranch dog food bags arrived squished. It may be a small detail, but the bag didn’t hold its shape, so I had to lay it flat in the cupboard.

Sundays have appeared to struggle with delivery issues in the past.

In researching this comparison article, I noticed a number of pet owners complain about delays.

When I ordered from Sundays in 2023, I experienced a delay myself, and it took two weeks for Copper and Skye’s food to arrive.

However, I’ve continued to feed Sundays alongside We Feed Raw. As of 2026, I haven’t experienced any issues with delivery times.
