Do you have a picky eater like me, but you’re unsure which dog food subscription will keep your fussy pup motivated at mealtime?
My Alaskan Klee Kai dogs are really picky when it comes to their food, but I have managed to find some UK brands that they’ll eat.
If you’re a British pet parent looking to feed your dog human-grade dog food that they’ll consistently finish, I’ve got you covered.
In this article, I share three dog food brands that transformed my Klee Kai from picky eaters to food-motivated dogs.
Butternut Box
If your pet is fussy, and you’re pulling your hair out because you’ve tried lots of different kibble brands or wet dog food, I’d recommend Butternut Box. They provide an extensive range of human-grade fresh dog meals.
You can pick from over 10 recipes, so there’s ample variety for British dog owners to choose from. I loved being able to alternative Copper and Skye’s meals to keep them guessing which protein would be in their bowl.
They offer custom meals that are shipped to your home. I did find having to stack all their meal packets in the freezer a little inconvenient. But it was worth the hassle, seeing how much my dogs loved their food.
Skye used to have tummy issues because she wouldn’t eat her food. We didn’t have any such problems for four years feeding Butternut Box. You can save 50% on your first and second Butternut Box orders when you click this link or the button below.
Pure Pet Food
Pure Pet Food is a good option for British dog owners who don’t want the inconvenience of making space in their fridge and freezer for fresh or raw meals. They’re an air-dried dog food company that use human-grade ingredients in vet-approved recipes.
Just like Butternut Box, you’ll have to fill out their sign-up questionnaire before placing your order.
I had to make Copper and Skye’s Pure meals by mixing the air-dried food with water. My Klee Kai liked Pure and finished their air-dried food consistently.
It’s cheaper than Butternut Box and still satisfied my Klee Kai. They’ve got a good reputation for helping picky eaters and dogs with sensitive tummies. While I fed Pure for a time, I went back to Butternut Box because my dogs preferred their fresh meals.
Naturaw
While I was reluctant to feed raw dog food because of the perceived faff associated with this pet food format, I was really impressed with Naturaw and Skye’s reaction to their food. She was obsessed.
There’s a lot to feel good about Naturaw. They adhere to high pet food standards, they’ve got an extensive range of recipes to cater to British pet parents and their differing levels of experience with raw food, and they have an admirable eco-friendly approach to their business.
Copper and Skye devoured their Naturaw meals, showing more excitement than I’ve seen them show in a long time. However, you do need substantial freezer space to store Naturaw.
Ultimately, we couldn’t make it work for us as a family. But if you’ve got a picky eater, I’m confident they’ll love Naturaw.
Final Verdict
So there we have it. I’ve reached the end of my best dog food for picky eaters in the UK article.
My recommendation would be Butternut Box based on their overall service, how much my Klee Kai loved their meals, and the price (compared to some other fresh and raw dog food companies in the UK).
I don’t think you’ll go wrong with Pure Pet Food if you want the convenience of dry dog food or Naturaw if you’d like to give raw feeding a try.
