Have you been considering a change to your dog’s diet, but you can’t decide between Maev and Sundays For Dogs?
If you’ve been following Life With Klee Kai for some time, you’ll know I believe in the benefits of feeding human-grade dog food to Copper and Skye that has been formulated by vets, tailored to their needs and shipped to my door.
I’ve seen firsthand the benefits of feeding balanced and complete dog food from fresh dog food delivery companies during my quest to find the best dog food for my Alaskan Klee Kai dogs in the USA.
In this article, I’ll be discussing two human-grade dog food delivery companies – Maev and Sundays For Dogs.
Maev offers raw dog food, and Sundays provides air-dried food. These two dog food brands have a lot to offer pet parents who want to ditch traditional kibble, canned dog food, unhealthy wet food or inconvenient raw dog food.
I’ll be sharing my insights into Maev and Sundays For Dogs, how they make their dog food, what recipes they’ve got on offer, how their food is prepared, their subscription plans, as well as giving my verdict based on feeding these dog food brands to Copper and Skye.
Maev Or Sundays: Our Recommendation
Let’s cut right to the chase if you want my verdict before taking a deep dive into both dog food brands – do I recommend Maev or Sundays?
I would recommend Sundays ahead of Maev based on my experience feeding their air-dried dog food to my picky Klee Kai Skye and Copper.
While I’ve typically paid for fresh pet food meals over the past six years, I’ve decided to embrace air-dried food, seeing as my Klee Kai love Sundays, and I love its convenience and affordable price.
Sundays are a super convenient way to feed your dog balanced and complete meals made from healthy and natural ingredients, customized to meet your pup’s needs and shipped to your door at a really affordable price.
You don’t need to worry about making space in your fridge or freezer because Sundays can be resealed and stored in your cupboard for up to 7 weeks once you’ve opened their ready-to-serve meals for your pet.
Copper and Skye consistently finished their Sundays meals irrespective of the recipe, appearing to enjoy the treat-like texture, which was useful when it came to our daily walks or training sessions.
While Maev’s frozen raw meals are easy to keep in your freezer and ready to pour into your dog’s bowl at mealtime, Copper and Skye started to eat only the meat and leave the fruit and vegetables after a couple of weeks. This was problematic with an inquisitive toddler in our home as my Klee Kai would literally pick out the fruit and veg, leaving it on the floor beside their bowl.
I believe Maev and Sundays are good options. If you’re looking to ditch traditional pet food in favor of a dog food subscription, I’d recommend starting with Sundays.
Sundays For Dogs
Sunday For Dogs has created an air-dried dog food range that’s been created and formulated by veterinary nutritionists, using human-grade ingredients in customized recipes. It doesn’t contain any additives, nasties or preservatives, which makes their air-dried dog food an elevated option if you want to ditch kibble, canned food or wet food.
Having reviewed a lot of dog food delivery services, I believe Sundays have one of the best sign-up questionnaires. Once you’ve finished answering their questions, you’ll get a suggested meal plan. Sundays offer beef, chicken recipe and turkey recipes, so you can decide which recipe is the best fit for your pup.
Sundays Food For Dogs will be shipped direct to your door, and you can store it in a cool, dry place. Sundays don’t require space in your fridge or freezer, and once opened, you’ll need to use the dog food within 6-7 weeks before it goes bad.
If you’ve been following our attempts to find the best dog food in the USA for Copper and Skye, you’ll know that we typically feed fresh food to our Alaskan Klee Kai. But Sundays appealed to me because they make human-grade dog food in a dry dog food format.
I liked that Sundays has a thorough sign-up questionnaire that makes you feel like the pet food brand really cares about getting to know your dog, whether they’re a picky eater, struggle with food sensitivities, or you’ve had issues with your dog’s health.
Once I got my hands on Sundays, I was impressed by the family feel of the dog food brand, with lots of great information about their dog food delivery service in my first box. Seeing as Sundays For Dogs is ready to serve, it would have been nice to have a customized scooper to take the brainwork out of getting the portions right.
As dry dog food, I loved that Sundays could be stored in the cupboard to save fridge and freezer space but I still had peace of mind knowing it didn’t contain artificial additives.
Copper and Skye really enjoyed their Sundays’ dog food, partly because it has a treat-like texture and there’s a really high protein content (90% meat) in their dry dog food.
I did find that my Alaskan Klee Kai loved the beef recipe and the chicken recipe but Copper and Skye showed less interest in the turkey recipe.
Having paid for and tested a lot of dog food delivery services, I believe Sundays are affordable: I paid $138 a month to feed Sundays to Copper and Skye.
Maev Raw Dog Food
Maev offers pet owners the chance to feed a raw dog food diet to their pets in a convenient, hassle-free way thanks to their range of frozen raw meals. They only use USDA-approved lean meat alongside fresh fruit and vegetables, plus superfoods in their recipes formulated by veterinary nutritionists.
At the time of writing, Maev offer a beef recipe and a chicken recipe as well as a variety pack for dog parents who want to try both recipes.
You can start your Maev journey by filling out their questionnaire, which isn’t clearly displayed on their website, but you can access it by using their chat feature. Alternatively, you can head to the “shop” section of their website and make your purchase.
Maev has different formulations to target specific health conditions – Weight & Digestion, Anxiety & Calming, Skin & Coat and Hip & Joint. You can also buy their bone broth and supplement bars separately or bundle them together with the raw dog food.
Once you’ve placed your order, your Maev raw dog food will be shipped direct to your door before you’ll need to store it in the freezer until you’re ready to serve to your dog. Maev doesn’t need to be thawed, and you can serve your pup frozen, which is extremely convenient when compared to other raw dog food and fresh dog food.
I’ve had the chance to feed raw dog food to Copper and Skye in the past when we lived in the UK but I found my Alaskan Klee Kai didn’t really take to raw dog food and I found it messy to deal with. I liked that Maev is more akin to frozen fresh dog food rather than traditional raw dog food.
To my surprise, Skye and Copper absolutely loved Maev raw dog food. Skye is a fussy eater with a sensitive stomach, and she is really particular about her pet food. However, Skye loved eating Maev. She showed a lot of mealtime excitement, jumping up on me, tail wagging, spinning in excitement and finished her bowl every time.
When I opened the bag, I could clearly see the frozen meat chunks, fruit and vegetables, it felt good to know Copper and Skye were eating human-grade dog food. While Copper and Skye finished their bowls for the first few weeks, their picky ways returned, and my Klee Kai started to eat the meat but left the fruit and veg.
I loved being able to serve Maev directly from the freezer and I noticed that Copper did slow down his eating when munching on their frozen raw meals. Maev add that frozen meals help with dental hygiene too.
When comparing Maev to other dog food delivery services, I felt it’s competitively priced. I pay $152 every month for Copper and Skye’s meals, which I consider to be very reasonable. But ultimately I didn’t stick with Maev because of Copper and Skye’s pickiness. But your dog might be different!

Wrapping Up – Our Final Thoughts
We’ve reached the end of our article comparing Sundays and Maev. I’ve tried and tested both of these brands and their dog food recipes with a lot of success.
Ultimately, I believe Sundays are the best choice because it kept my Alaskan Klee Kai dogs food-motivated at mealtime, unlike Maev’s raw food.
If you want to give raw feeding a try, you may want to try Maev because their dog food delivery service has made raw diets really accessible to dog owners.
However, for dog owners who want to stick with dry food but with a high nutritional value, Sundays are a great option.
At the current time, I’m feeding Sundays to Copper and Skye – and they love it. They’re still finishing their portions every mealtime, while I love the convenience of dry dog food.
