Have you been considering a change to your dog’s diet but you can’t decide between Maev and Sundays For Dogs?
If you’ve been following Life With Klee Kai for some time, you’ll know I believe in the benefits of feeding human grade dog food to Copper and Skye that has been formulated by vets, tailored to their needs and shipped to my door.
I’ve seen firsthand the benefits of feeding balanced and complete dog food from fresh dog food delivery companies during my quest to find the best dog food for my Alaskan Klee Kai and dogs in the USA.
In this article, I’ll be discussing two of my favourite fresh dog food delivery companies – Maev and Sundays For Dogs.
Maev offer raw dog food and Sundays provide air dried food so these two dog food brands have a lot to offer pet parents who want to ditch traditional kibble, canned dog food, unhealthy wet food or inconvenient raw dog food.
I’ll be sharing my insights into Maev and Sundays For Dogs, how they make their dog food, what recipes they’ve got on offer, how their food is prepared, their subscription and shipping practises as well as giving my verdict based upon feeding these dog food brands to Copper and Skye.

Maev Raw Dog Food
Maev offer pet owners the chance to feed a raw dog food diet to their pet in a convenient, hassle-free way thanks to their range of frozen raw meals.
They only use USDA-approved lean meat alongside fresh fruit and vegetables plus superfoods in their recipes formulated by veterinary nutritionists.
Maev explain on their website that their dog food is 100% USDA-certified, vet-formulated, AAFCO-compliant, made in the USA and adheres to world-class food safety standards.
At the time of writing, Maev offer a beef recipe and a chicken recipe as well as a variety pack for dog parents who want to try both recipes.
Maev only use natural ingredients in their meals, while you won’t find any additives, nasties or preservatives in their raw dog food.
You can start your Maev journey by filling out their questionnaire, which isn’t clearly displayed on their website but you can access by using their chat feature. Alternatively, you can head to the “shop” section of their website and make your purchase.
Maev have different formulations to target specific health conditions – Weight & Digestion, Anxiety & Calming, Skin & Coat and Hip & Joint. You can also buy their bone broth and supplement bars separately or bundle them together with the raw dog food.
Once you’ve placed your order, your Maev raw dog food will be shipped direct to your door before you’ll need to store it in the freezer until you’re ready to serve to your dog.
Maev doesn’t need to be thawed and you can serve to your pup frozen which is extremely convenient when compared to other raw dog food and fresh dog food.
Our Verdict On Maev’s Dog Food
I’ve had the chance to feed raw dog food to Copper and Skye in the past when we lived in the UK but I found my Alaskan Klee Kai didn’t really take to raw dog food and I found it messy to deal with.
However, I liked that Maev is more akin to frozen fresh dog food rather than traditional raw dog food. So I decided to place an order to give it a try and see how my Klee Kai enjoy their raw food diet.
To my surprise, Skye and Copper absolutely loved Maev raw dog food. Skye is a fussy eater with a sensitive stomach and she is really particular about her pet food.
However, Skye loved eating Maev. She showed a lot of mealtime excitement, jumping up on me, tail wagging, spinning in excitement and finished her bowl every time.
Copper isn’t a picky eater but he does struggle with anxiety so I was intrigued to see if Maev’s Anxiety & Calming formula would help. I did notice a slightly calmer Copper after a few weeks.
When I opened the bag, I could clearly see the frozen meat chunks, fruit and vegetables which felt good to know Copper and Skye were eating human grade dog food.
I loved being able to serve Maev directly from the freezer and I noticed that Copper did slow down his eating when munching on their frozen raw meals. Maev add that frozen meals help with dental hygiene too.
When comparing Maev to other dog food delivery services, I felt it’s competitively priced. I pay $152 every month for Copper and Skye’s meals which I consider to be very reasonable.
Sundays For Dogs
Sunday For Dogs have created an air-dried dog food range that’s been created and formulated by veterinary nutritionists, using human grade ingredients in customized recipes.
Sundays’ dog food doesn’t contain any additives, nasties or preservatives to make their air dried dog food an elevated option for pet parents who want to ditch kibble, canned food or wet food.
Sundays offer a beef recipe, a chicken recipe and a turkey recipe. When looking at the ingredients label, you’ll notice that Sundays only use human grade ingredients that we’d eat.
Having reviewed a lot of dog food delivery services, I believe Sundays Food For Dogs have one of the best sign-up questionnaires. Once you’ve finished answering their questions, you’ll get a suggested meal plan.
Sundays Food For Dogs will be shipped direct to your door and you can store it in a cool, dry place. Once you’ve opened your dog’s food, you’ll need to use the Sundays’ dog food within 6-7 weeks before it goes bad.
Unlike some fresh dog food brands or raw meat brands, Sundays doesn’t require space in your fridge or freezer. If you’ve got a big family and space is at a premium, Sundays offer a convenient way to feed fresh pet food good for your dog’s health.
Our Verdict On Sundays’ Dog Food
If you’ve been following our attempts to find the best dog food in the USA for Copper and Skye, you’ll know that we typically feed fresh food to our Alaskan Klee Kai. But Sundays appealed to me because they make human grade dog food in a dry dog food format.
I liked that Sundays have a reallly thorough sign-up questionnaire that makes you feel like the pet food brand really care about getting to know your dog whether they’re a picky eater, struggle with food sensitivities or you’ve had issues with your dog’s health.
Once I got my hands on Sundays, I was impressed by the family feel to the air dried dog food brand with lots of great information about their dog food delivery service in my first box.
Seeing as Sundays For Dogs is ready to serve, it would have been nice to have a customized scooper to take the brainwork out of getting the portions right.
As dry dog food, I loved that Sundays could be stored in the cupboard to save fridge and freezer space but I still had peace of mind knowing it didn’t contain artificial additives.
Copper and Skye really enjoyed their Sundays’ dog food, partly because it has a treat-like texture and there’s a really high protein content (90% meat) in their dry dog food.
I did find that my Alaskan Klee Kai loved the beef recipe and the chicken recipe but Copper and Skye showed less interest in the turkey recipe.
Having paid for and tested a lot of dog food delivery services, I believe Sundays represents an affordable way for dog owners to feed fresh food.
I coughed up $138 a month to feed Sundays to Copper and Skye, with deliveries every 4-5 weeks.
Maev Or Sundays: Who Do We Recommend?
We’ve reached the key part of this comparison article – do I recommend Maev or Sundays?
It’s a tough to answer because I continue to feed both Maev and Sundays to Copper and Skye since we moved back to California from the UK.
While I’ve typically paid for fresh pet food meals over the past six years, I’ve decided to embrace raw food and air dried food for Copper and Skye.
I feel it comes down to personal choice if you’re trying to figure out whether which dog food delivery service to sign up for.
Sundays is a super convenient way to feed your dog balanced and complete meals, made from healthy and natural ingredients, customized to meet your pup’s needs and shipped to your door at a really affordable price.
You don’t need to worry about making space in your fridge or freezer because Sundays dog food can be resealed and stored in your cupboard for up to 7 weeks once you’ve opened their ready to serve meals for your pet.
However, you may be a pet parent who believes raw food and the benefits of raw feeding. Maev offer hassle-free way to introduce a raw diet to your dog without having to handle raw meat and store raw meat in your fridge and freezer.
Instead, Maev’s frozen raw meals are easy to keep in your freezer and ready to pour into your dog’s bowl at mealtime. They’ve also got bone broth and supplement bars to complement their frozen raw meals.
I believe Maev and Sundays represents two contenders for the best dog food delivery in the USA and you won’t go wrong with either of these brands. It just comes down to whether you want to feed air dried dog food or raw dog food.

Wrapping Up – Our Final Thoughts
We’ve reached the end of our article taking a look at what I consider to be two of the best dog food delivery companies offering fresh meals in a convenient format.
I’ve tried and test both of these brands and their dog food recipes, with a lot of success.
Ultimately, I believe each pet parent will have to decide what they’re looking for from their pet’s food.
