Are you ready to ditch regular pet food in favor of a fresh approach, but you can’t decide between Sundays For Dogs and We Feed Raw?
There are many different pet food formats, so it can be difficult for pet owners to decide which human-grade dog food to feed their pet if they’re ready to ditch traditional kibble or canned dog food in favor of fresh dog food.
With a picky eater and a slightly overweight dog, we needed to find new dog food for Copper and Skye after we returned to the USA from the UK in 2023, seeing as their favorite UK fresh food brand didn’t operate stateside.

Having tried and tested some of the best human-grade dog food companies, we decided to give Sunday’s dog food and a We Feed Raw diet a try to see how our Alaskan Klee Kai fared eating air-dried food and raw dog food.
We signed up for Sundays For Dogs and We Feed Raw using our own money to provide honest feedback.
In this comparison article, we’ll share our insights on Sundays and We Feed Raw, explaining how these two pet food formats work and our experiences feeding dry dog food and raw food to Copper and Skye, before giving our verdict on the best dog food.
Sundays For Dogs Vs We Feed Raw: Our Verdict

Now that we’ve shared our experiences with Sundays and We Feed Raw, who do we recommend?
It’s a tough decision because it comes down to whether you prefer to feed air-dried dog food or raw dog food. It’s an individual decision based on the circumstances of every pet owner.
We were impressed with both dog food brands. We would consider We Feed Raw to be the best raw dog food we’ve tested and Sundays to be the best air-dried pet food we’ve reviewed.

If you’re looking to upgrade from kibble or canned food to something fresher, you won’t go wrong with either Sundays or We Feed Raw. Their food has high nutritional value, making it perfect for picky eaters, and is competitively priced compared to their rivals within their particular pet food format.
We decided to feed a combination of We Feed Raw and Sundays to Copper and Skye, as we prefer having different textures in their meals.
(Note: we worked with our vet to make sure we weren’t overfeeding or underfeeding)
Having experienced the stress of trying to encourage a fussy eater to finish their meals, I would say that if you have a picky pup, I’d start by trying We Feed Raw because Skye’s reaction to their raw dog food blew us away. It was like she was ravenous!

Once you’ve given We Feed Raw a try, you can get a feel for what it’s like feeding raw dog food, freezing your raw meat pouches, thawing them at mealtime and how your dog enjoys eating raw meat.
If you’d prefer less dog food in your freezer or you believe it’s just too much hassle, you could switch to Sundays, whose air-dried recipes don’t require freezer space and stay fresh for up to seven weeks.
Whether you ditch the kibble or canned food in favor of Sundays or We Feed Raw, you’re introducing healthy dog food and will hopefully experience the benefits of feeding human-grade dog food as we have.
Sundays For Dogs Vs We Feed Raw: Price Breakdown

When deciding between two dog food brands, price is a significant factor.
Let’s take a look at a price breakdown for Sundays and We Feed Raw, so you can see how much we pay for their dog food.
I have two 11lb Alaskan Klee Kai dogs called Copper and Skye. They’re relatively small dogs of a similar age, daily exercise requirements, and dietary needs.

Based on my experience with Sundays Food For Dogs, I can expect to pay $138 a month. We Feed Raw, on the other hand, cost me $276.08 a month.
That’s a difference of $138 a month and $1656.96 a year!
Who Are We Feed Raw?

We Feed Raw is one of the leading raw dog food companies in the USA, providing dog owners with the chance to try a raw food diet without some of the hassle associated with raw feeding.
They only use USDA raw meats such as USDA beef (like beef bone, beef liver, beef heart and more) in the recipes, ensuring pets are eating human grade ingredients in transparent recipes.
We Feed Raw dog food is formulated by a PhD animal nutritionist and meets or exceeds the standards set out by the AAFCO nutrition standards. You can have peace of mind knowing that experts have created your dog’s raw food diet.

To get started, pet parents will need to complete We Feed Raw’s questionnaire to get a custom raw diet for their furry friend.
We Feed Raw offers a beef recipe, chicken recipe, duck recipe, lamb recipe, turkey recipe and venison recipe. There are numerous raw meat options for dog parents who prefer to vary their dog’s diet.
It’s worth noting that We Feed Raw offers freeze-dried raw dog food, which may be preferable for those who prefer the convenience of dry food over raw food yet still want to try the brand’s offerings.

Skye is a fussy eater with food sensitivities, but I was blown away by how much she enjoyed her raw diet. She consistently showed mealtime excitement, unlike any other dog food brand we’ve previously given her.
Our female Alaskan Klee Kai would stalk me every time I went near the freezer, lick her bowl clean, and ensure Copper couldn’t muscle his way to her bowl. We Feed Raw transformed our fussy eater’s behavior.
We saw some health benefits after a few months – too. Copper and Skye had firmer stools, improved digestion, and healthier skin. Of course, both Alaskan Klee Kai dogs continued to show excitement at mealtime.
Who Is Sundays For Dogs?

Sundays For Dogs has created a range of air-dried dog food for pet parents who want to introduce fresh dog food without the hassle of dealing with fresh meals or raw meals requiring freezer space.
Sundays are dry food but much healthier than traditional kibble. Sundays For Dogs uses USDA meat alongside fresh ingredients such as tart cherries, shiitake mushrooms, sunflower oil, wild salmon oil, chicory root and more.
They use transparent ingredients labels on each air dried box so you can see the real food in your dog’s beef recipe, chicken recipe and turkey recipe. Sundays is created by vets and formulated by vets, ensuring its balanced and complete.

Unlike dry kibble cooked at extreme heat, Sundays use a gently air-dried method to lock in all the natural flavor and nutrients. You won’t find any additives, nasties or preservatives in their air-dried dog food.
To get started with Sundays, you’ll need to fill out their sign-up questionnaire, which allows Sundays to understand your dog’s specific needs and tailor their recipes accordingly. They offer three recipes – beef, chicken and turkey.
Once you’ve received your first box, you can pour the contents directly into your dog’s bowl and follow the provided feeding guidelines to ensure the correct portions. When you’re done, you simply reseal the bag, seeing as it’s shelf-stable food that lasts up to 6 to 7 weeks once opened.

Copper and Skye really enjoyed the treat-like texture of Sundays – in fact, we used it as treats throughout the day, especially for scent work games.
We found our Alaskan Klee Kai loved the beef and chicken recipe but the turkey recipe was hit and miss. Skye showed mealtime excitement, which I think was in part thanks to the protein’s 90% meat content.
Having review a lot of dog food brands in the USA since returning to California, Sundays’ dog food is one of the most affordable and most convenient options that we’ve tried.
Wrapping Up

So there we have it. We’ve reached the end of our Sundays and We Feed Raw comparison dog food article.
We love these two dog food brands and struggled to separate them. As a result, we ended up ordering air-dried pet food and raw dog food for our Alaskan Klee Kai.

We’re continuing to pay for subscriptions to these two dog food companies, which is the best possible review of their services.
If you’re ready to bin the dry pet food or wet food from the pet store in favor of a healthy approach, our dogs love Sundays, and We Feed Raw, so we suspect your pet might enjoy their food too, whether you opt for air dried or raw dog food.
