Are you considering a switch to fresh dog food, but you’re unsure whether The Pets Table or Nom Nom represents the best option?
We returned to the United States in 2023 following five years in the UK, where we’d typically fed fresh dog food meals to our fussy Alaskan Klee Kai dogs Copper and Skye.
However, the first fresh dog food company that we ever ordered from was Nom Nom (previously called Nom Nom Now) over seven years ago.
Yasmin and I regularly use Hello Fresh, so we were intrigued to learn that the company was creating a dog food subscription service called The Pets Table.
Having tested and reviewed multiple fresh dog food companies over the past couple of years, I’ve seen some good options and some bad options for American dog owners.
In this article, I’m going to compare The Pets Table and Nom Nom to share which dog food brand represents the best choice.
The Pets Table Vs Nom Nom: Our Recommendation

Let’s get right down to business. My recommendation would be Nom Nom based on Copper and Skye’s preference.
It’s a tricky decision because The Pets Table offers a flexible dog food subscription service, and I was impressed with the depth of their range and subscription options.
But I can’t escape the fact that my picky Alaskan Klee Kai dog Skye would prefer to eat Nom Nom ahead of The Pets Table.
In some ways, that wasn’t a surprise. Nom Nom’s dog food contains visible chunks of meat alongside fresh fruit and vegetables. The Pets Table’s meals looked less appetizing.

If you check out our YouTube channel, you can watch my taste test, where I ate some of the dog food made by these two brands. I must say Nom Nom tasted a lot better!
There isn’t a big price difference, either. The Pets Table costs $217.96 a month, while Nom Nom’s subscription came in at $229.46. So Nom Nom is slightly more expensive.
However, I’d recommend Nom Nom because, ultimately, I want dog food that Skye and Copper will consistently eat.
Nom Nom

We first came across Nom Nom in 2018 during my first stint in California when the fresh dog food brand was a relatively new player in the pet food marketplace.
Nom Nom only offers fresh dog food that contains high-quality ingredients formulated by veterinary nutritionists and customized to meet your pet’s specific needs.
They’ve created four different recipes – beef, chicken, pork and turkey. It’s a decent range if you’ve got a fussy eater, but I’d like to see two or three more to provide more variety.

I completed a questionnaire about my dogs as part of the sign-up process. However, I’m unsure to what degree the food was customized to meet each of my Klee Kai’s needs.
Of all the fresh dog food brands I’ve used, Nom Nom’s pouches are one of the easiest to open, and their food looks more appetizing than most of their competitors.
It requires a lot of freezer space. It’s not the easiest to stack in the fridge and freezer compared to other fresh dog food companies. But perhaps that’s because it’s more chunky.
Copper and Skye were fans of Nom Nom, more so compared to Ollie and The Pets Table. However, my Klee Kai do prefer The Farmer’s Dog ahead of Nom Nom.
The Pets Table

The Pets Table differs slightly from Nom Nom because it offers fresh dog food and air-dried dog food. You can decide to go fresh, dry or both! My dogs do like multiple textures.
Not only do they offer multiple pet food formats, but The Pets Table offers a fresh, air-dried, mixed and half-fresh subscriptions to cater to the different budgets of pet owners.
Seeing as Nom Nom only offers fresh, let’s take a look at the fresh recipes available from The Pets Table: Chicken Casserole with Green Beans, Beef Stew with Carrots, and Turkey Casserole with Broccoli. That’s three recipes compared to Nom Nom’s four.

If you’ve ever signed up for Hello Fresh, you’ll feel at home filling out The Pets Table’s questionnaire. I had to provide key details about Copper and Skye, select my pet food format and discover the cost of my subscription plan.
The Pets Table provides a portion guide on each meal packet, but its made redundant because the pouches are so skinny it’s difficult to scoop out the right portion.
Copper and Skye weren’t huge fans of their fresh food, but my Klee Kai did enjoy their air-dried recipes. So The Pets Table was hit and miss with my fussy mini huskies, but could be a hit with less picky pups.
Wrapping Up

We’ve reached the end of my comparison article on Nom Nom and The Pets Table.
My pick would be Nom Nom based on my experience testing out their food on Copper and Skye.
The taste test was the key factor in my decision because that’s really important when I have a fussy eater like my female Alaskan Klee Kaim dog.

The Pets Table is a more versatile dog food brand, seeing as they’ve got fresh and air-dried dog food, but Nom Nom passed the taste test.
Having said all that, I’d recommend other brands ahead of Nom Nom if you’ve got a picky eater.
My dogs preferred The Farmer’s Dog over Nom Nom and The Pets Table, but we currently feed a raw dog food brand and an air-dried dog food company.
